Hani and Huda by Ahmad Bilal Phillips

📚 Hani & Huda 📚

Author/Illustrator: Ahmad Philips @philzdraws

Publisher: Tughra Books @tughrabooks

Age: 7-11

Islamic Content: Throughout

Concerns: None

Summary/Review:

So this book has been previously been published at an 8-book series on Amazon. We have all 8 stocked in our Masjid library and the boys seem to just be drawn towards them every time.

This book is a compilation of the 8 books divided into chapters. With the exception of 2 chapters, the rest are stand alone stories. Just like in your typical comic books, the illustrations are expressed in exaggeration, which is what makes this book exciting. It is filled with Islamic references, hadith or ayat, which at times may seem slightly preachy, but I don't actually mind it and neither do the kids. There is a lack of graphic novels and comics in the Muslim world, so I hope Muslim creators recognize this need and work towards this.

Hani and Huda are a fun sibling duo that are very relatable to the readers. They tell on each other, competing with one another, getting in trouble, also get along at times and learn Islamic Gems along the way. My son is very much into graphic novels currently and this book was such a nice treat. If you have 2nd to 6th graders, this book will be a fun read.
