This book. This author duo have been successful with so many aspect with this book however missed one crucial element: execution. Let me just begin by saying how adorable is their publishing brand with diverse characters. The illustrations are catchy and vibrant. The physical quality of the book is spot on. The core concept is absolutely clever, to use a hobby such as birdwatching to teach patience to little ones. However the execution of the storyline is lacking. There was a lot of telling and narrating on this book rather than showing the characters truly experience the aspect of waiting without results. Most of the book is spent introducing the adventure and setting it up and when they finally go to the park everything is done so quickly. It is very clear that a copy editor has been involved with getting the text grammatically spotless but the developmental editing in this case was missing. Because of all their care to bring quality in other areas, I hope that this is something that they explore in their future work to make this series top quality all around.
