Summary:

Lala is a married young woman with a baby. She is a big sister and a friend. She is navigating her daily life with those closest to her while Lala is learning and growing in faith.

Review:

Lala and her daily shenanigans are compiled into this book that displays Muslim life in a comical angle. The book is divided into three main sections, and each comic has their own heading. It is filled with Islamic values, referencing ayat and hadith from beginning to the end. This may make it sound like it is a very preachy book, but it isn't and it really works. The character of Lala is so obnoxious, funny and likable.

The exaggeration of her antics really make the Islamic tidbits stick and memorable. This comic book highlights some struggles and misconceptions about Islam with humorous twist that doesn't cross the line. Some of the topics included are: pressures of society on hijabis, praying in fitting rooms, giving to others what you love for yourself and more. Although the characters are mostly adults, the content is clean and suitable kids as young as middle graders. This is really a unique book that will appeal to the older kids and parents.
