Review:

This book is the 3rd in this book series. Sulaiman and the Tides of Change tackles the important topic of loss for children in an Islamic perspective. This is an early read chapter book that serves independent readers ages 7-11. We have seen a couple of picture books tackle this tough topic in different ways. I am glad this topic is being explored more and especially in a chapter book. We have gotten to know Sulaiman and his ways in the previous books. In this one, important conversations happen with Sulaiman and his dad as they discuss loss. Seeing that this was a chapter book, I wish this was explored a little more in depth. The loss happens nearly at the end of the book and a lot of plot setting happens prior to that which only left room for a brief discussion about death. The book includes discussion questions and Qur'anic ayat in the end. The discussions aren't in depth but the book still serves as a beneficial tool for early readers.
