Review:

Regardless of where you stand on the Netflix series about Kamala Khan and how she represents Muslims in the media, this review focuses on this book only. This particular story is a graphic novel that showcases 2 identities of the superhero, her personal life and her superhero persona. In this book, her Muslim identity is her mother's hijab and her best friend's mention of attending Qur'an class. The main message of this volume is about finding balance with school life, home life and extra curricular activities. Stretching yourself too thin to keep up with an overwhelming amount of commitments. So it is clear the moral lesson itself is beneficial. The book is action packed and the plot twist is exciting. I wish there was more Muslim pride and identity presented by Kamala herself rather than limiting it to the background characters.
