Review:

This has to be my new favorite Ramadan board book. This is the newest release in this series written by Sara Khan and published by Kube. It really does an excellent job at capturing Ramadan in such a dreamy, wonderous way. The simple language is perfect for toddlers to understand but there is enough text for young kids enjoy. The the soft style of illustrations are absolutely stunning. I love that it includes a page spread of those who are excused from praying like those who are ill, traveling, new mothers etc. A great conversation to have with the little ones which isn't commonly mentioned in children's books. Additionally, it explains taraweeh, Layla tul-Qadr, and the gate of Rayyan reserved only for those who have fasted which make this book absolutely wholesome. The last 2 pages include facts, translation of ayah (2:185) and a hadith related to this Holy Month. Also explanations about why Muslims fast, the age of those that should start fasting and why Ramadan dates change every year. This is an absolutely sunning for every Muslim household and library.
