Review:
Who doesn't love a hijab story? Nanni is an adorable character that has fully embraced her Muslim identity through her hijab. So many discussion points can happen in this picture book story, bullying, embracing Muslim identity and dua. I absolutely love that Nanni never questions her hijab, rather she recognizes that it is a problem with Leslie and not her attire. two things I am glad that are in this book: one - Nanni has a hard time sleeping that night when she encountered the hijab pulling incident. This means that even those who have confidently embraced their true selves are not spared from feeling anxious and impacted internally. Two - Nanni turns to Allah with her dua. She asks for help to deal with her bully in the best way possible. The only thing I don't love is the resolution, I don't know how realistic it would be if it was used in a real life situation. Overall a good read.
