Review:

It is so amazing that so many book are finally coming out with Palestinian stories. Each one id so different from one another highlighting and centering different aspect of their stories an voices. This book is such an important narration of one family's experience of the Nakba in 1948.

The story is told with child-friendly language, in a gentle way that doesn't feel overwhelming. The illustrations are beautiful and the story doesn't shy away from the reality of the occupation. Amal's character develops and finds growth as the story progresses. I felt like for a picture book, there is a lot more text than your typical picture book. This Palestinian story is powerful, important and very needed for the age group. Definitely a book to add to your special library.
