The Best Eid Ever by Asma Mobin-Uddin

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚
Title: The Best Eid Ever
Author: Asma Mobin-Uddin
Illustrator: Laura Jacobsen
Publisher: Boyds Mills Press
Age: 7 and up
Rating: 8/10 🌟
Summary:
This year on Eid ul-Adha Aneesa is not her usual happy self. Her parents have gone on their journey of a lifetime, Hajj, while she stays with her grandmother. She feels their absence on the morning of Eid so her Nonni had special gifts for Aneesa. As the two of them experience Eid together, an unexpected opportunity arises and results in their best Eid ever. 🌸
Lessons:
This book tackles a few important life lessons; patience, kindness, humility, generosity, family and refugees. This story beautifully displays the lessons in a simple way that is easy for the reader to understand. In some scenes, the text is a bit too long and, honestly, I don't know if some parts are necessary. Still, I think it is something that independent readers would enjoy. This also gives the reader a little glimpse into the Pakistani culture. It is wonderful to have Islamic stories with exposure of different cultures as it shows our kids the diverse nature of our Muslim ummah.
🌸
On another note: We will close the Eid al-Adha book reviews here as we are days away from the main event. Aside from obvious outward preparations, we must focus our efforts to spiritually prepare during these important days of Dhul-hijjah and maximize our rewards inshaAllah. We will be back on after Eid with more reviews.
