Summary:
This one of a kind book is a biography of Imam Bukhari (may Allah be pleased with him). The story begins with his parents and when they were gifted with a new born son. Continues with his childhood, youth, his teachers and learning the deen and his journey to make a hadith collection.
Review:
This book is divided into sections/chapters for the ease of reading. It is written in a picture book format but it definitely needs multiple sittings to read through it. The book itself fills a gap in kidlit that is normally void. It provides enough details about his life for little readers to get familiar with him and his contribution to our faith. Through the biography, the book offers lessons on the power of dua, how to interact respectfully with a teacher even if you have to correct them, his powerful memory and more.
However, what has had me hold on to it for a long time is the basic minor errors throughout the text which takes away from having an enjoyable reading experience. At the same time, because there is no other book like it in the market, and the book offers so many benefits to the reader. Hopefully this is something that can be considered when the author decides to reprint and make a 2nd edition.
This book is is an asset to Islamic centers and libraries through out. Even having it available at the Islamic school libraries is definitely a benefit.
