The Great Four Rashidun Caliphs of Islam
📚 The Great Four Rashidun Caliphs of Islam 📚
Publisher: Muslim Children Story Publisher
Islamic Content: The four Khalifas and their Legacies
Concerns: Questionable content due to the poorly translated text.
This particular title grabbed my attention because of the content. Biographies of the four leaders of Islam after the passing of Prophet Muhammed alayhi salam for children is a topic that needs exploring. The book cover gave me the impression that this is a picture book read but it isn't.
It might be intriguing for ages 10 and up but even still many parts are too advanced when explaining political roles in the content. This book has basic grammar errors and I couldn't figure out why. I had my husband scan through some of the pages and he picked up on it right away because of his fluency in the Arabic language. It seems that this book has been poorly (or literally) translated from Arabic text. While the biographies seem to be a decent outline of their lives and achievements, I don't know if I can trust the content to be accurate since we have picked up on a couple of inaccurate translation.
Now it all makes sense. There is no named author, illustrator or publisher listed anywhere in the physical copy of the book. Furthermore, there are no claiming right to it whatsoever.
As soon as I think we are getting somewhere with the quality of Islamic publishing, I come across something like this. While Amazon printing and publishing allows us to tell our stories when others don't give us the space, we must do it right, with integrity, quality and accuracy.
