Summary:
Bushra and Roda are identical twins. All their features are the same except for their hair. Bushra has very straight hair and wishes she had curls instead. Roda has curly hair and wishes it was straight instead. One day they decided to secretly use their parents' tools to get what they wanted. Bushra used the curling iron to give herself bouncy curls. Roda used the straightener to make her curls as straight as possible. When they went to school, they were mistaken for one other by their teacher and friends. In order to keep their plan unnoticed, they also attended each other's after-school outdoor activities. They soon came to learn that everyone is created in a different and special way.

Lessons:
The main takeaway from this fun story is the importance of showing gratitude to the Almighty for the way that He has created us, individually unique. I really like the way that the protagonists unexpectedly are mistaken for one another without it being the intention of their plan. This experience helps them understand their own uniqueness and appreciation the way that they are created. The illustrations are okay, they explain the storyline. I do appreciate the fact that the publisher always has a goal in mind to represent the diversity of the muslim community in her stories. (You will see this in all their books). I noticed that throughout the story God is referenced, Allah isn't, it makes me wonder why. I love the discussion questions in the end, especially the question that asks the reader to name tree things they love about themselves. This is a great story to have in your collection that would make the kids think about their own individuality. 🌸
